Big News - New Blog!

So I've gotten into podcasts lately, a topic for a future blog. But the other day I was thinking how cool that would be to have something like that. A specific blog/podcast that could be open for opinion and open to the public. Being that I'm not that great about thinking on my feet when it comes to speaking a podcast would probably not be that great for me. But than I was thinking: "how about a specific blog?" I thought this as I was listening to a podcast about the TV show 24 so than I was thinking, why not do a 24 blog? My friend Jeromey and I are always talking about the show and speculating different issues, so than I thought why not do a joint blog? Jeromey was gone for a bit on a trip so it was thing that I just sat on for a bit and thought about different things to make it work and set it appart from other sites and started getting excited about it.

The thing that was a downer for me about the whole idea was the fact that this season is over half over, I wish I would've thought of this before now. So when I thought about this I was thinking of putting it into the works at the beginning of next season. Atleast that was the thought. Last night I got a chance to talk to Jeromey after his trip and during various conversations I just made the passing comment about how fun it could be to do a 24 blog. Jeromey's reaction caught me off gaurd, instead of taking it as a joke or a random thought and laughing it off, he got excited about it. Not just the yeah, that would be cool. He got excited about it like I was and we quickly moved from talk to action. Within probably 10 minutes of bringing the idea up we had a domain registered and started tossing ideas around.

There is still a lot to go over about all the what's and how's, but the wheels are in motion. And instead of waiting until next season we're going to start this season as a practice run to see how things go. So there isn't anything there yet but look out for:

April Fools

I've never been much for pulling pranks on people so I don't really get into April Fools. Well... let me rephrase that: I like pranking people but I don't like it when it's turned on me, so I made the realization that if I don't do stuff to other people they won't have a reason to get me back. So when it comes to April Fools it's just usually another day, which this year was no different. My parents are on a cruise right now and my sister from New Mexico was coming in to watch them. But there was a time between when my parents left and when she got here so Amanda and I watched them on Saturday. I thought of innocent ways of getting Amanda, things that wouldn't be gross and evil (like saran wrapping the toilet), in the end I taped the faucet sprayer on the kitchen sink and got her to turn the sink on. Good thought, but failed miserably, she ended up not turning the faucet enough to make pressure to spray.

The reason for this blog is what happened to me. So because my parents are gone we got tickets to the Eagles playoff game. Being that it was already a playoff game there was a lot of excitement in the arena. Than the announcer gets on:

"The Colorado Avalanche have made a blockbuster trade tonight! They have just finalized a deal that would bring Peter Forsberg back to the Av's"

Talk about a reaction. 6000 hockey fans out of their seat screaming and cheering. When Forsberg played here he was treated like a god and it was a big blow to find out that we couldn't keep him. So talk about the one thing that would get 6000 hockey fans excited at once. Than he drops the bomb:

"April Fools!"

I tip my hat to him, that was a good one. I have to admit he got me too...

Better Than Ezra Concert

Ok, so I don't know what it is or why, but I have recently taken an interest into Better Than Ezra music. I have been a fan of various songs played on the radio throughout the years that they have been around but never really made a connection between singles and their collection of music. I believe the turning point was when I got their Live at the House of Blues album and got to hear how they played live and also made me realize how many songs that they sang that I liked. So last summer I believe it was I logged into their website just to see what kind of tour they were running because if they were close I figure it'd be worth it to see them. Once I logged in I was dissapointed to find out that I had just missed them playing 2 shows in Steamboat. So I signed up for their newsletter but didn't do much about it. Than a few weeks ago I just had my playlist up on shuffle while doing some cleaning my favorite BTE song came on, At The Stars, and it was the live version. So I was like: "Hey I haven't checked their tour dates lately, maybe I should do that" So I log on and find out that not only were they coming to Colorado, but northern Colorado and soon. I just barely found out that they would be in Greeley at UNC two weeks after the date I checked it. So I go to get the tickets $15 a piece + fee! I don't remember the last time I went to a concert for under $40. So I got tickets for Amanda and I and my friend Jeromey and his girlfriend.

We were all pretty excited about the concert. Jeromey and his girlfriend were excited about it but both didn't quite know what to expect. They knew some of the songs and figured they'd hear a few that they recognized. The opening band basically sucked so I'm not going to waste time on them. When Better Than Ezra hit the stage, every one of us was blown away. The show FAR exceeded any of our expectations! Just a phenominal show overall. I think there were only like two songs that I didn't know, they played just about every one of their hits. The guys seemed really laid back and cool, constantly joking around with the audience and messing around on stage almost like they were just in someone's garage. I didn't know what to expect about going to a college to see a concert. I figured there'd be a bunch of beligerent drunk college kids, someone trying to start a mosh pit. But it was not that way at all. There were MAYBE 300 people there and everyone there seemed to be really into the music. It was an awesome intimate setting. One cool fact that the lead singer pointed out was that most of At The Stars was actually written in Colorado, so I thought that was cool.

In the future I will be watching their tourdates a little more closely because if they are close and I am going to make every effort possible to make it to their shows. Unbelievably good!

Blogging Avalanche

Prepare for an avalanche of blog posts. I have a little bit of a break right now and I want to catch a few things up and I'm going to put them into individual posts to seperate them because none of them are related so I'm not going to just do one big blog.

Enjoy
